Coworking Workshops
Introduction
Coworking has captured the attention of people around the world, but very few people know where to go to understand what it is, how it works, and if it’s for them.
I’ve been active in the global coworking community, as well as a local champion of coworking here in Philadelphia, since late 2006. Over the last few years, we’ve grown to be internationally recognized as one of the leading coworking spaces for not only having a sustainable & profitable business, but a sustainable and healthy community that is highly regarded by members of Indy Hall and across Philadelphia.
In addition to over 1000 posts on the global coworking email list helping guide people through coworking foundations, I’ve also written hundreds of posts on this blog related to our experiences in creating and growing Indy Hall. The advice we’ve shared spans topics of business, community dynamics, communications, civic involvement, membership interactions, events, and more.
It could take you months to read everything and sift out the best stuff that applies to you…but we know that’s not really going to happen. So we created a series of workshops custom tailored to you, to help you get the best advice as well as the best preparation for the fast changing “real world” of coworking.
Available Workshops
All workshops are 100% virtual, and able to be easily attended from any computer with a web browser and an internet connection. The workshop includes slides, an audio/video feed of the instruction, and a live chat room for all participants.
If you aren’t a great note taker, don’t worry – the entire course is recorded and shared in the week following the course. All ticket holders will receive a copy of the audio and video, a full text transcription of the audio, a full transcript of the chat room, AND printable PDF versions of the slides.
There’s also a private discussion group ONLY for alumni of this workshop for ongoing networking, discussions, questions, early access to future events, etc.
Coworkshop for Owners, Catalysts, Community Managers

This half-day workshop is meant to give you the knowledge and confidence that you can launch and run a healthy, happy, and sustainable coworking space and community.
The core topics on how Indy Hall approaches coworking are divided into four primary segments:
- How to Market a Coworking Space
- An Intro to Community Dynamics
- Business Foundations for Coworking
- Operating a Coworking Space for the Long Haul
And then at least 30 minutes for an action packed Q&A.
Some previous attendees have said:
“Not just a Coworking 101…more like 4-yr undergrad in Coworking Arts and Sciences.”
“…the best resource I have found on what it takes to create a real, sustainable space. It took coworking out of the fad and made it legitimate.”
“…the combination of [Alex's] openness in sharing numbers, plus experiences – warts and all, plus letting people talk to each other and network, that had so much value.”
“I do NOT want a refund!”
