finally ALA posts something thought provoking

general 26 September 2006 | View Comments

I’ve been disappointed by the lack of thoughtfulness and the general berevity of articles on A List Apart for…well…coming up on a year. Things have been ramping up recently, and have finally peaked at with Ben Henick’s 12 Lessons for Those Afraid of CSS and Standards. What a great, thoughtful, and intelligently written piece.

One of my favorites quote (and point) is: Lesson No. 4 (with thanks to Antoine de Saint-Exupéry): Perfection is not when there’s nothing to add, but when there’s nothing to take away.

This is the kind of writing I used to come to ALA for.

JZ publicly invited me to submit more often… so I see a constituency gathering, I guess.

Ross Olson (another ALA contrib) is on my contact list, and when I IM’ed him to point him at the article, he called Lesson No. 5 the ‘best heading ever.’

Thanks for mentioning the article. :-)

Thanks for the comment Ben! I’m very excited to hear that we’ll be seeing more of you, and hopefully more writers like you.

keep it up, i’ll be sure to keep my eye out for your name.

    cheers, Alex
